Press Release
Spring
Clean Up Day this Saturday
March 23, 2009 – Pflugerville, TX – The City of Pflugerville and Keep Pflugerville Beautiful,
in cooperation with LCRA, are pleased to announce their upcoming Spring Clean
Up Day. The event will be held next Saturday, March 28, from 8:30 a.m. to
12:30 p.m. The site is located on Railroad Avenue, across the street from
Brookhollow Elementary School.
Residents of the City of Pflugerville are invited to
participate in this opportunity to clean up their community and dispose of
unwanted household waste. Furniture, appliances (including refrigerators and
A/C units), trash, brush, automobile tires, lead-acid batteries, televisions,
computers, used motor oil, fencing, latex paint and other household items will
be accepted free of charge. Citizens are responsible for bringing such items to
the Clean Up Day site during the event's scheduled hours. Commercial and
industrial waste, containers over five gallons, explosives, medical waste,
chemicals, petroleum-based paints and pesticides/herbicides will not be
accepted.
Clean Up Day is more than just a clean up event; it serves
as a means for the City to educate citizens of the ongoing problems of
pollution and illegal dumping, and encourages volunteer participation and
environmental stewardship. Clean Up Day is a wonderful opportunity for
community groups, businesses and students in need of community service hours to
lend a hand to their community.
Clean Up Day is sponsored by the City of Pflugerville, Keep
Pflugerville Beautiful, LCRA, TCEQ and IESI. For more information on the event,
visit the City website: www.cityofpflugerville.com.
