Press Release
City seeks participation in comprehensive plan update
May
29, 2009 – Pflugerville, TX – The
City of Pflugerville is updating its long range, comprehensive plan. Citizens
concerned about specific issues, such as parks, housing variety, public
facilities, transportation options, attracting more jobs, or simply securing a
strong future for the City of Pflugerville, are invited to let their voice be
heard.
“My
primary goal throughout this entire process is to reach as many people as
possible – as our motto states, this plan is about the community’s voice and
the choices to be made for the future of Pflugerville,” stated Autumn Speer,
Planning Director for the City of Pflugerville. “It is so important that people
let their concerns, opinions and desires for the community be heard. The
City on its own can produce a great plan in the end, but if it does not
represent the community at large, I believe we will have failed.”
The
Pflugerville 2030 Comprehensive Plan process will examine all of the
aforementioned issues and more to establish the City’s policy for growth and
development in the future through three interactive workshops that have been
scheduled. Each of the meetings will be held at Pfluger Hall in Pflugerville’s
historic Old Town area from 6:00 to 8:30 pm. Pfluger Hall is located at 203B
East Pecan Street, behind the fire station at East Pecan Street and Railroad
Avenue. A schedule of the workshops includes:
·
Values Workshop on
Thursday, June 11, 2009
·
Visioning Workshop
on Thursday, July 9, 2009
·
Modeling Futures
Workshop on Thursday, August 6, 2009
The
first two workshops will feature the use of hand held voting devices which will
enable participants to respond to questions in real-time and instantly view the
results of the group bringing equity to this process. In addition, a website (www.pflugerville2030.com) and an
interactive blog have been setup for residents to monitor the project and offer
ideas, questions and comments.
“Through
the public participation process, we intend to find out from the stakeholders
of Pflugerville how they currently view the city and want to see it develop and
prosper in the future,” stated Mayor Jeff Coleman. “Our success in developing
an effective comprehensive plan is directly related to having all segments of
Pflugerville working together towards the common goal of capitalizing on the
best qualities of this dynamic and growing city.”
