It?s Chili Cook Off Time! Pfall Chili Pfest November 13

The City of Pflugerville hosts the Third Annual Pflugerville Pfall Chili Pfest, Saturday, November 13 from  1 p.m. -10 p.m. in downtown Pflugerville with a chili cookoff,  chillun's pot, washers tournament, dance contest and street dance featuring Rotel and the Hot Tomatoes.

"We've expanded Chili Pfest with new activities for 2010 including the new washer?s tournament and the dance contest," event coordinator Kathy Ellis said. "We're expecting more than 50 chili cooks, with both local chefs and participants from across the state, and celebrity judges, Rob Balon roving gourmet and Chef Vance from Central Market, all participating in this year's cookoff!"

Starting their pots on site at 11 a.m., chili cooks will begin serve samples to the crowd at 1 p.m. to enjoy as they compete for the Chili Appreciation Society International (CASI) voted best tasting chili, most entertaining show, and a People's Choice Category where guests will get to taste all the chili and vote on the best chili in Pflugerville. Guests will visit vendor booths from local artisans and shop food related offerings from mixes and dips to chili spoons and utensils.  The chillun's pot children's area will feature entertainment for children from 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. with a special craft opportunity courtesy of Home Depot.   Starting at 6 p.m., children can enjoy watching movies outdoors during the street dance courtesy of Fun Flicks.

Chili winners will be announced at 5 p.m. and the party continues into the evening with a family-friendly street dance. The highlight of the night is the dance which kicks off first with a salsa dance demonstration at 5:30 p.m. and dance contests for children and adults. Following the contest, the headliner, Rotel and the Hot Tomatoes, plays courtesy of Hanover's Draught House from 6 p.m.-  10 p.m.

Admission to Chili Pfest is free.  Chili voting cost $1 per sample/vote and the team with the most money in a category wins.  All chili-tasting proceeds will go toward the beautification of downtown Pflugerville.

Chili Cooks are still welcome to register, and the washers tournament and dance contest registration is underway. For more information, visit www.cityofpflugerville.com/chili.
