Pflugerville features Parks and Recreation programs and environmental programs at the
Expo and Earth Pfair

The City of Pflugerville will host an expo to feature parks and recreation programs and environmental programs at the Expo and Earth Pfair on March 5 from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. at Heritage Park, 901 Old Austin Hutto Road.

Heritage Park will be filled with vendors and information on programs offered at the Parks and Recreation Department to include dancing, youth sports leagues and information on community outreach programs from Drop by Drop landscape rebates to the community gardens.

"This expo is an opportunity to learn about the numerous programs provided by the Parks and Recreation Department," Director Amy Atkins said.  "We offer everything from karate to Zumba, and this expo is a chance to highlight our programs and provide trail maps, flyers, and information to the community."

Environmental programs will be featured including the city's single-stream recycling program, landscape rebate programs, storm drain marking, tree care, solar power initiatives and water conservation.

Throughout the day parks and recreation programs and environmental speakers will be featured on the event stage. Performers include line dancers, karate, zumba, and gymnastics.  Earth speakers include Tree Folks, IESI and Discover Green.

Children will also enjoy reptiles thanks to Austin Reptile Service and spiders and scorpions with Austin Arachnological Services. The fun also includes a rock wall, petting zoo, bounce houses, face painting, and a puppet show performance and songs by Hey Lolly that emphasize the environment. Enjoy kayak inter-actives, class demonstrations, LCRA water safety, KidFish, Pflugerville Police and Fire Department and McGruff the Crime Dog among other mascots and guests.

Overflow parking is available at Pflugerville HEB at Dessau and 1825.  Jump on the city's propane powered bus and head to Heritage Park. In the event of rain, the Expo and Earth Pfair will be on March 12. For more information on this free family event, visit www.cityofpflugerville.com/earthpfair or call 512-990-6355.
