Detours will direct motorists to Heatherwilde Blvd. and E. Pflugerville Pkwy. Business entrances on Pflugerville Pkwy. will remain open for business access.

Overall project completion is anticipated in November 2015.

DROP IT and LOCK IT; a reminder from the Pflugerville Police Department
Approximately 25% of all recorded crimes are thefts from cars, and lately Pflugerville has experienced a noticeable increase in automobile burglaries. Most of these burglaries occurred with the criminals simply opening up an unlocked door and taking what they wanted from the vehicle.

One of the simplest and most cost-effective ways to thwart would-be thieves is to lock your vehicle doors. Vehicle burglary is a crime of opportunity. A majority of the burglarized cars reported in Pflugerville were left unlocked, with valuable items left in plain sight by their owners. If the opportunity is taken away, there is a good chance you won’t become a victim. Drop those items in the trunk and Lock it up!

Here are some tips to remember:
• LOCK your vehicle and take the keys with you
• PARK carefully in well lighted areas
• CLEAN out your vehicle; do not leave anything in sight
• REMOVE the garage door opener
• REPORT suspicious activity or persons to the Police Department. Get a good description and license plate number if possible.

Contact the Pflugerville Police Department with any questions or concerns at 512-251-4004.

Tax holiday- Come home to Shop! (R)
come home to shop bagSchool is just around the corner for Pflugerville children and the annual Sales Tax Holiday is August 7-9.

While out taking advantage of deals, please remember to shop Pflugerville businesses first because even without the sales tax, the city and businesses thrive when you shop locally and support.

Some items exempt from sales tax during the three-day holiday are most clothing, footwear, school supplies and backpacks priced under $100. Shoppers will save around $8 for every $100 they spend on these items.

A complete list of apparel and school supplies that will be exempt from sales tax during the three-day holiday is available on the State Comptroller's website at This year, an estimated $87 million in state and local sales taxes will be saved by shoppers in Texas. Be sure to save and shop Pflugerville!

Register for fall classes with Pflugerville Recreation Center

It's hot outside for our pets too. Can you identify heat stroke in your pet?
With the hot weather among us, please make sure you can recognize heat stroke not only in people, but also in your pets. Signs of heat stroke in pets include rapid, frantic panting, wide eyes, thick saliva, pale gums and bright red tongue, vomiting, staggering, diarrhea, seizures or coma.

LunaIf you witness these symptoms, first remove the pet to a cool area and if possible take the pet's temperature every 5 minutes. Cool the animal down with lukewarm water around neck, head, armpits and groin. Wet ears and feet. Don't use ice or cold water because it can cause blood vessels to shrink and cause heat to get trapped in the body. Get to a vet as quickly as possible. Offer water to drink if the pet is not vomiting. These tips provided by your Pflugerville Animal Shelter. Be safe and have fun with your pfurry pfriend this summer!
