Tonight's Music in the Park canceled due to rain
The Music in the Park featuring Glen Collins and the Alibis slated for tonight, August 19 is canceled due to recent rains and park flooding. We are pleased to invite them back to Pfluger Park on September 9, to make up the show!

Please join us for our next park event on September 2, when the city hosts a "Grease" singalong and costume contest in the park starting at 7:30 p.m. The Music and Movie in the Park series is staged adjacent to the playground and under the shade trees at Pfluger Park.

Pfreeze Pflugerville program rewards kids who safely walk to school
Just in time for back to school, the Pflugerville Police Department has partnered with 7-Eleven’s Operation Chill for Pfreeze Pflugerville, a crosswalk safety initiative program to encourage youth to cross the street in the crosswalk.crosswalk
“Young adults and teens using the crosswalks throughout the City of Pflugerville will be rewarded with a free small Slurpee coupon,” Sgt. Mayo Neyland said. “The purpose of the program is to encourage safety by tweens and juveniles during their walk to school. Our officers will reward those who are playing it safe and help remind youth to use the crosswalks.”
Community Services officers will randomly select a crosswalk in Pflugerville to specifically monitor and reward juveniles who use it properly. The program begins Tuesday, August 23, the first day of school.

Talk to your child before the first day of school about safety
Students are at new schools and establishing their travel routine to and from school. Please remember the law prohibit drivers from using a handheld cell phone in school zones which could result in a fine of $200.back to school

Pflugerville Police suggest talking to your child about their route to school. Frequent problems at schools include double-parked cars and children darting between cars or getting off their bicycles. Discuss safety rules with your child before you get to the school and proper methods to walk around automobile traffic. Consider walking or riding a bike to school with your child for the first week to get them comfortable with their routine. Be careful and slow down for our kids. No cell phone use in school zones.

City Council calls special election
voteOn Saturday, August 6, the city received unofficial voting results for the City Councilmember Place 2 election. Early voting will be held from August 22 through September 2. Election Day is Tuesday, September 6.

The City Council ordered a General Election for November 8 for the election of a Mayor and Councilmember Place 1. There were less than 900 votes cast in the last election. Be sure to vote Pflugerville! Election information  Información en español:
Pflugerville police recommend using a SafeTrade location for online sales
safe tradeThe City of Pflugerville Police Department is a registered SafeTrade Station that allows and encourages residents buying and selling items through Craigslist, Facebook and other online sites to meet either inside the Pflugerville Justice Center lobby, 1611 E. Pfennig Lane, or in the parking lot.

“The Justice Center parking lot is under 24-hour video surveillance and well lit,” Sergeant Mayo Neyland said. “With officers regularly coming in and out of the Justice Center, we are providing residents a safer location for online transaction sales. Residents can enter our public facility lobby during office hours or use the parking lot after hours for online sale exchanges or purchases. This designation encourages a safer alternative to having a stranger come to your home.”

What's Happening
Kennemer project -
Due to weather and unforeseen contractor delays, the overlay portion of the Kennemer Drive project will be re-sequenced to start in October.

Making this adjustment will help mitigate concerns related to school starting and expected traffic interruptions. This schedule change will also allow traffic patterns in the area to settle in for the school year.

Drainage improvements will continue as planned to keep the project on schedule. Additional Kennemer project information.
