  1. Photography Club photo feature at the Pflugerville Public Library

    September 26 - October 10

    Come to the Pflugerville Public Library, 1008 W Pfluger Street, from September 26 – November 22 to view photographs from Pflugerville’s Photography Club on display. The group, as part of the Pflugerville Council of the Arts, also has a Flickr group where local photographers are encouraged to share photos from the Pflugerville area. The flickr group is where photographers can post photos on various topics and themes that the club discusses. This new club compliments several photography workshops the library has held for adults in the summer reading program. Come visit the library and see which photo is your favorite.

Nicole will be speaking on a much requested topic that affects all pet owners and rescue people at some point - "How to Cope With Pet Loss Grief". 10% of all ticket sales, 5% of all drink sales and 20% of all Pokey t-shirt and tote bag sales will be donated back to Pflugerville Pets Alive. Additional donation boxes will be located throughout the event, for anyone wanting to help Pflugerville Pets Alive with their mission of helping save more homeless dogs and cats from the Pflugerville city shelter, get them any needed medical attention and help them find loving foster homes until they find their new forever homes.     Join Kevin Klaus, Lead Researcher at the Texas General Land Office Archives and Records Program for an overview of the collection and how it relates to the early history of Texas and how it can be used in genealogical research. Mr. Klaus developed a love of history from an early age listening to stories told by his Great Grandparents and Grandparents who grew up in East Texas. Over the last 10 years he has served as one of the lead researchers in the Texas General Land Office Archives and Records Program Area. During his time at the Land Office he has searched the early Court of Claims files and archival collection to learn more about the history of Texas and discover the amazing collection of personal letters of early soldiers and pioneers who helped settle our great state. This program is at the Pflugerville Public Library. Refreshments will be served while supplies last.

    On Tuesday, October 7, 2014 neighborhoods throughout the City of Pflugerville are invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the 30th Annual National Night Out Crime and Drug Prevention Event. National Night Out is supported by the National Association of Town Watch and in part by the Bureau of Justice Assistance, Office of Justice Programs and the U.S. Department of Justice.

    Be a volunteer at the Pflugerville Animal Shelter, the Pflugerville Animal Shelter, 1600 Waterbrook Drive, needs volunteers ages 16 and up to play with cats, walk dogs and take animals on field trips or to adoption events. To be a volunteer, you must pre-register and participate in one of the monthly Volunteer Orientations which take place on the second Saturday of each month from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. at the shelter, 1600 Waterbrook Drive. Volunteers do everything from walking dogs to playing with cats in the cat room. The shelter is open to the public from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. Thursday through Tuesday. Volunteers are not limited to the facility’s public hours of operation. Volunteer hours are flexible, so volunteers can pick a time that works well for them.
