UPDATE 11/10/.2017 overnight work November 13-15

The Grand Avenue Parkway Pavement Rehabilitation project will move to nighttime operations for two or three nights beginning at 9 p.m. next Monday, November 13. The overnight shift will be in addition to the current 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. shift already underway.

Monday night, beginning at 9 p.m., the Tobermory Drive intersection and the eastern half of the Picadilly Drive intersection will be closed to all traffic until 5 a.m. Tuesday morning.  The contractor will complete the areas of deeper pavement repair required and return the intersections to their current working states as quickly as possible.

Overnight Tuesday, again beginning at 9 p.m., the contractor will complete the placement of the final 2-inch asphalt surface for the current phase, which runs from the south side of the Pflugerville Parkway intersection to the north side of the Gilleland Creek bridge just south of Black Locust Drive.  The Tobermory Drive and Picadilly Drive closures will be used again Tuesday night and the eastern half of the Black Locust Drive intersection will closed as well.

Overnight Wednesday, closure of one or more of these intersections may be needed.  However, Wednesday night work will only occur if the contractor encounters problems Monday or Tuesday nights.

Once this work is complete, the contractor will move all Grand Avenue Parkway traffic to the eastern half of the road and repair and repave the western half from Pflugerville Parkway to the Gilleland Creek bridge.  Eventually, this same repair and repaving plan will be repeated south of Gilleland Creek to the city limits, approximately 150-feet west of the Viki Lynn Place intersection.  The entire project is expected to be completed by mid-January.

 Original message/ Project Overview

Phase 1 begins south of Pflugerville Parkway and ends just north of the Gilleland Creek bridge.  Phase 2 will complete the job from south of the bridge to Viki Lynn Place at the city limit.  Each phase requires that all traffic be moved to one side of the roadway, with a single lane being provided for each direction at all times.

Phase 1 is anticipated to last until mid-December.  Once activities in the Phase 1 area are complete, traffic patterns north of Black Locust will return to their current conditions. During this same time, the City will complete the construction of a new traffic signal at the Grand Avenue Parkway and Black Locust Drive intersection.

The City encourages drivers to slow down and use extra caution in all construction zones, but especially in construction zones near schools.
