Plan your party for National Night Out

Post Date:08/16/2017 9:16 a.m.

National night Out 2017On Tuesday, October 3, neighborhoods throughout Pflugerville are being invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the 2017 Annual National Night Out crime and drug prevention event. Last year’s National Night Out campaign involved citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations, and local officials from 16,000 communities, representing 38 million member from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide.

National Night Out is designed to:

  1. Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
  2. Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs;
  3. Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and
  4. Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

Along with the traditional display of outdoor lights and front porch vigils, cities, towns, and neighborhoods ‘celebrate’ NNO with a variety of events and activities such as:  block parties, cookouts, visits from local police and fire department, parades, flashlight walks, contests and youth programs. NNO has proven to be an effective, inexpensive and enjoyable program to promote neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships in our fight for a safer nation.  Plus, the benefits your community will derive from NNO will most certainly extend well beyond the one night. On October 3rd, we invite neighborhoods, nationwide, to join forces with us to Give Crime & Drugs A Going Away Party.

Pflugerville residents can contact Cpl. Lori Dillard at to receive the Official NNO 2017 Registration Form. There is no cost to register or participate.
