  2. Drive a Senior Volunteer Orientation

    October 23, 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM @ 2500 E Palm Valley Blvd

    Drive a Senior needs volunteer drivers to assist Round Rock seniors. Kids are welcome to participate with parents and volunteers choose their own drives online. No specific time commitment- even a once-a-month makes a big difference in the life of an isolated senior!

  4. The Texas Book Festival

    October 25, 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM @ The Texas State Capitol and surrounding grounds

    The Texas Book Festival will feature more than 250 renowned authors, panels, book signings, live music, cooking demonstrations, and children’s activities. Considered to be one of the nation’s premier literary events, the Festival continues to be free and open to the public in its 19th year. Headlining authors for the 2014 Festival include Martin Amis, Lidia Bastianich, Edan Lepucki, Ziggy Marley, Hector Tobar, Valerie Plame Wilson, Lawrence Wright, and Tiphanie Yanique. The full author list and 2014 Festival schedule will be announced as the date gets closer. Check www.texasbookfestival.org for updates.

    Meet fire chief Ron Moellenberg, tour the fire station, Take 10 minutes to learn CPR, enjoy health screenings, nutritional and fitness information, financial services.     Join George Hill of ClassBytes for a fun demo! He'll use Raspberry Pis to operate a small TV, video games, an LED screen, and a camera that will Tweet during the event. He'll also have two set up for you to interact with. Anyone 13 and up is welcome. No registration required.

    Lynda Hermes of the Texas Department of Insurance will discuss Medicare basics, including open enrollment and Medicare changes for the coming year. This event is free and open to the public.

    Teens ages 12-18 are invited to get creepy undead makeovers, play zombie tag, and watch a zombie movie (rated PG-13). Call the library for movie information.
