Pflugerville 911, Fire, Police and EMS (Emergency Medical Services)
Communications (Dispatch) is a division of the Pflugerville Police Department. The
primary function of the communications system is to satisfy the immediate communication needs of the agencies in their daily activities and during emergencies.
The system conveys information from the public to the Department through communications personnel, to the officer who responds to the call for assistance, to other law enforcement and public service agencies and to information storage facilities and retrieval systems.
The speed and accuracy with which information flows through each system component measures the agency's capability to respond to the needs of the community.
Communications personnel answer multiple incoming administrative police lines and 911 lines. These personnel also make telephone calls as needed to facilitate the needs of the Police Department. The personnel also access state and national information such as driver's license checks, vehicle registration checks and wanted information, etc.
The Pflugerville Police Department currently has 9 full time dispatchers, 1 call taker, and 4 supervisors. All dispatchers are required to go through an intensive 14-16 week training program.
There are several ways to view or receive emergency notifications from Pflugerville Police Department.
The Regional Notification System, or RNS, is a system that allows emergency notifications to be sent out to citizens as needed by law enforcement. This system is activated by Communications staff and messages are communicated to citizens by their phone number. This system is only used in the case of legitimate emergency circumstances.
