At the November 23, 2010 City Council Meeting, Carol Pirie from the Texas Film Commission announced Pflugerville’s Film Friendly status. Pflugerville is a certified community listed on the
Texas Film Commission website .
Pflugerville is no stranger to the film community as several movies and television shows including “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape,” “Friday Night Lights” and "The Newton Boys” are only a few of the many films from the Pflugerville area.
The Film Friendly designation shows the film community that we are open for business and ready to go!
To earn the status a representative attended the Film Friendly Workshop hosted by the Texas Film Commission, panoramic photographs were taken of areas in Pflugerville that may be of interest to film crews, and the City passed guidelines for filming in Pflugerville to be used when each film or television crew requests to film in the City. The economic benefits of Film Friendly include the potential impact of filming crews and actors in the City who shop for items for the set and eat in Pflugerville restaurants. In some instances, Pflugerville becomes a destination as movie and television show fans want to see the actual filming location!
