This list is updated as new classes are added throughout the season.
Fall session registration is open and ongoing.


Classes are held at the Pflugerville Recreation Center, 400 Immanuel Road, unless otherwise stated.

Adult Classes

Robotics: Level 1

Ignite your interest in science and technology's most fascinating field of today & tomorrow, ROBOTICS! Class is designed for all ages. In teams, build then use EV3 software to command your robot to explore, conduct experiments and use innovative engineering design processes while learning the latest technology. Advance to Level 2 and explore the possibility to begin in the world of competitive robotics.


Beginner Sewing (12+)

These are one-time instructional classes. Please bring your own sewing machine (with manual) to learn how your machine works. Learn what the dial means, how to thread your machine, what size needles to use & more.
Beginner Series
Oct. 2, 9, and 16
$85 plus cost of materials
Come learn to sew and make multiple projects in our 3-week sewing class! Each week you will add skills and make a project! Week 1 will cover machine basics and then we will make a simple pillowcase. Week 2 we will make a pillow cover or mini-bag complete with a zipper. Week 3 we will make pajamas. Students will learn how to read a pattern and many more skills. Some sewing machines will be provided but students are welcome to bring their own along with their manual. Click here to view the supply list for the class.


Knitting
Sept. 20 - Oct. 25
Tuesdays, 7p.m.
$60 for 6-week session
Learn the knit stitch, purl stitch, how to combine patterns and textures. Helpful tips and resources will be provided to students. Students provide: Size 8 (straight or circular), worsted weight yarn: wool, cotton or acrylic in medium or light color.

Mostly Muscles
Sept. 6 - Oct. 27
Nov. 1 - Dec. 15
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:30 p.m.
$8 per class / $80 for 8-week session

Aerobic and conditioning movements to target large and small muscle groups.
Class will be a mixture of using step, weights, stretch bands, exercise balls
and weighted bars. It is for all levels of abilities. Dress in lightweight workout clothes.
Bring a yoga mat and water to drink. Instructor: Linda Spataro.

Senior Yoga

Location: Windermere Clubhouse, 16800 Gower Street.
Oct: 18, 20, 25, 27
Nov: 1, 3, 8 17
Dec: 6, 8, 13, 15
Full session will begin in January 2017.
Beginner level at 8:00 a.m
Intermediate level at 9:15 a.m.
$20 for 4 classes or $7 per class

A yoga class designed for seniors who are able to get down on the floor. Chairs will be provided for those who need time and training on how to effectively move to the floor using props, etc. Effective use of props will be encouraged and demonstrated. This class is scheduled to meet twice a week.
Students: Please bring your own mat, one or two yoga blocks, yoga strap, a large beach town or small blanket, a small pillow, and a bottle of water for drinking.

$25 for a 10-class punch card, $3 per class

This low-impact fitness class is great for seniors, low mobility persons, or adults with rehab or physical therapy issues. This class will fit your needs.

Adult Tap Dance

Oct. 27 - Dec. 15
Thursday, 6:30 p.m.
$35 per session ($28 for the second if you take both!)
This high-energy class will bring rhythm to your dancing feet. You'll learn basics and then use those to build increasingly complex rhythms, patterns, and steps. One hour class explores classic Broadway style tap dance and culminates in an optional performance opportunity in spring.  Instructor: Ann Powell

Adult Belly Dance (Middle Eastern Dance)

Wednesday, 2:00 p.m.
$35 per session ($28 for the second if you take both!)
This graceful dance is a low-impact workout that tones the body and boosts energy, and is also an expressive art form that increases poise and self-esteem. The first session covers the basic belly dance vocabulary, including beginning zills and veils. The second session builds on existing skills; students begin to learn a choreography and have an opportunity for an optional performance! Enshin Karate

Instructor Sensei Andrew Budd teaches both children and adults the practical system of empty-handed self defense, known as Enshin Karate. Enshin Karate stresses the development of flexibility, power, and speed with emphasis on stretching, conditioning, and technique. Training builds spiritual awareness, mental alertness, a sense of confidence, as well providing resources for meeting life's challenges.

Evening Yoga

$60 on-time fee for 6-week session
Join nearly 11 million Americans who enjoy the health benefits of yoga: improved flexibility, strength and concentration. Those with any level of fitness are welcome. Classes at the Recreation Center multi-purpose room, second floor.

Archery
Location: Heritage Park, 901 Old Austin Hutto Road. (inside the Green Red Barn during rainy conditions)

$85 for 5-week session

Learn the Olympic Sport of archery in this beginner-level class. The skills of modern-day archery with USA Archery Associates techniques will be learned through skill drills, active shooting, and games. All equipment is provided. Students should dress accordingly. Instructor: Ron Dahlseid.

Learn new techniques, get some exercise and improve coordination. Bring a new can of tennis balls and water to drink. Private lessons available, including "Tennis Strokes & Strategies". Instructor: Alex W. Porter, USPTA.

Tai Chi

One centered person between Heaven and Earth. Tai Chi is a slow, continuous, relaxed and focused movement. It provides the benefits of meditation, the positive effects of exercise, and helps to improve coordination, flexibility, and balance. Tai Chi can help you reduce stress and attain feelings of well-being. This class will teach you the 24 movements of the simplified form and is suitable for both beginner and continuing students.  Instructor: Larry Bates

Senior Line Dancing (Senior Club members - join today!)Senior line dancing

Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Participants must pay dues to Senior Activity Center. Adults ages 55 and older learn a variety of steps to music from years gone by and today's contemporary hits. Classes are held in the gymnasium at the Recreation Center.

PFREE Holistic Transitions Workshop
V:   Oct. 4
6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Some unwise lifestyle decisions that result in added stress, tiredness, compromised health, and/or weight gain. Holistic wellness advocate Delia M. Trujillo will present this talk, which is part 1 of a 5-part series. The steps for establishing the foundation for a balanced and harmonious lifestyle of radiant health, greater vitality, mental spaciousness and inner peace will be discussed.


Open League Play

Pickleball
Every Thursday, 5 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Recreation Center Gymnasium
Cost: current Recreation Center membership or purchase a $5 one-day pass at the front desk
Come learn something new! Pickleball is a low-net game, with a court size similar to tennis. The game is played in singles or doubles with a wiffle ball and paddle similar size to a ping-pong paddle.

Adult Volleyball

Fall League play begins Sept. 11

Recreation Center Gymnasium
Cost: $175 per team
This adult league includes all ability levels! There's still space to sign up your team, or just join yourself and help out a team in need of a teammate! This league takes place after the Recreation Center closes every Sunday (unless otherwise noted on the completed game schedule) starting at 6 p.m. Team sign-up forms can be picked up at the Recreation Center. Contact our Athletics Coordinator, Kyle Benedict, for more information.

Payment Policies
  • Pay with cash, check, MasterCard, VISA or American Express cards.
  • Some classes offer payment plans. See class descriptions for details.
  • Refunds of paid fees will be given if a class does not meet the minimum enrollment requirements and an alternate class cannot be found.
  • Cancellations will be accepted up to one week before the start of a session. A $7 administrative fee will be retained by the city.
  • If cancellation occurs within 7 days of the start or after start of a class, no refunds will be given.recreation center

Class Policies
  • One does not have to be a member of the Recreation Center to participate in classes, sports leagues or workshops.
  • Members do not receive discounts on costs of Recreation Center classes.
  • All classes are age-appropriate and age requirements are enforced for the safety of all participants.
  • Please, no children in adult classes as participants or observers.
  • Classes, fees and times are subject to change without prior notice and at the discretion of the instructor(s).
  • Classes without the minimum required number of enrolled participants will be canceled and refunds or credits provided.
