This project includes master planning for the overall community park and design and construction administration for the early completion of a practice facility to be built on city-owned property off of Cameron Road.

Feedback / Public Meetings
Staff presented the final master plan to City Council for approval at their June 14, 2016 meeting.

June 1phase 1
City staff hosted a public meeting on June 1 at the Pflugerville Library to discuss the 1849 Park Master Plan. Three different concepts for the park were presented to the public and the City Council at previous meetings. The City's design consultant consolidated the plans and formed one preliminary master plan for the park. The master plan includes components from each of the three original park concepts.

The first phase of development is estimated to cost $10.15 million and construction anticipated to start in the fall of six multi-purpose fields for sports like lacrosse, rugby and soccer, as well as three football fields, parking, restrooms and a playground.

The June 1 meeting was live-streamed on Youtube and available for playback for additional information on the project.


April 26
Staff presented the most recent design composite for the sports complex and community park to City Council on April 26. After reviewing options available and the budget, the City Council directed staff to put together a $10 million plan for Phase 1 the sports complex. The complete proposed design for the park includes multi-purpose fields, baseball and softball fields, archery areas, tennis courts, fenced football fields with a track, and trails meandering throughout the complex. To the north, the proposed design includes recreation opportunities including a festival area, nature walk, splash pad, dog park, and incorporates the historic Pfluger Cemetery and Pfluger House.  

Since the cost to complete the park is $61 million, the park will be built in phases. The City Council directed staff to allocate $10 million from the 2014 parks bond, that was approved by the voters, to implement a Phase 1 sports complex. The proposed Phase 1 includes six multi-purpose fields that can accommodate lacrosse, rugby, and soccer, and three football fields and parking to accommodate league play. There is an open house on the project on June 1 at 6 p.m. at the library. The project will return to city council on June 14 as the city continues to work towards a final design.  (click photo to enlarge)

Feb. 24 and Feb. 25 

The city hosted two public meetings on Feb. 24 and Feb. 25 to discuss programming options and gather community input for the city’s Community Park and Sports Complex to be built off of Cameron Road. The park is planned for development in phases and will serve the immediate and future needs for sports facilities and also provide passive/natural amenities.

The project will include a master plan for the community park and design and construction of the first phases of the Sports Complex. Funding for the complex was approved by voters in the 2014 General Bond Election.

Residents are encouraged to attend one of the public meetings to learn more about the project and provide feedback on programming for the park. 

March 22, 2016 City Council Presentation - Assistant City Manager Tom Word provided a project status update at the City Council Worksession.

The consulting firm of Schrickel, Rollins and Associates (SRA) was selected to assist the City with the master planning efforts for the park in January 2016. 

Working cooperatively with the City’s Capital Improvement Program staff, the Parks and Recreation Department, and the citizens of Pflugerville, SRA is currently developing a community park master plan and will be designing a practice facility as soon as the plan is adopted.
