Story Time
Pflugerville Community Library offers programs for children of all ages. Bring your children and introduce them to the joys of

storybooks and reading at their earliest listening opportunities. Story time introduces children to books, rhymes, music and other fun activities. Every week the library offers programs matched to children’s developmental levels. Library story times incorporate the early literacy skills that children must master before they can learn to read: phonological awareness, vocabulary, print motivation, narrative skills, print awareness and letter knowledge.
Parents and kerchiefs also benefit from these activities, as they learn new ways to share stories with children. Many story times are interactive, using puppets, fingerplays, songs, crafts or other activities that enhance a child's experience.
- Bilingual Story Time exposes children to other languages and facilitates their acquisition of vocabulary through reading and fun. Mondays at 11:30 a.m.
- Story Time builds language and social skills using different reading activities. Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30 a.m.
- Lapsed for Babies encourages language development based on rhymes, music, stories, and action. Babies 3 months to 1 year. Mondays at 10:30 a.m.
- Bed Time Story Time provides fun reading activities and gets children ready to go to sleep. They are encouraged to wear their pajamas and bring their favorite pillow. Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m.
- Family Story Time is an opportunity to share some all-time favorites together. Children of all ages are welcome the fourth Saturday of the month at 11:30 a.m.
- Paws and Read is intended to help independently reading children gain confidence in and improve their reading abilities. The dog serves as an interested and non-judgmental audience. Each dog comes to the library with his or her handler, who is available during the session to provide help if asked. The Paws & Read program takes place one or two Saturdays per month (depending) from 2:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. and sessions are ten minutes in length. Pre-registration is required. Call the library to register at 990-6375.
- Crafternoons are fun afternoon craft projects geared for students from kindergarten up to fifth grade.
