Water and wastewater services are essential to civilization, and it allows for the growth of a municipality while providing for the essential needs of every citizen. The Water and Wastewater Utility Department is charged with being forward-thinking in our planning for the future of our residents for water and wastewater needs, but also to serve our existing customer with exceptional service at every level within the department.
Emergency Services
Protecting our community during a disaster means planning before it happens, and ensuring the community is resilient and prepared to recover afterwards. The Emergency Services Department is responsible for maintaining City emergency management planning and preparedness in the event of a natural or man-made disaster, including such events like a wildfire, flood or ice storm. The department is dedicated to five mission areas – prevention, protection, mitigation, response and recovery.
Development Engineering
The Development Engineering division is made up of engineers and inspectors who review and inspect all current development applications that are submitted for a private development project within the City of Pflugerville. This also includes right-of-way permit reviews and inspections for private utility companies who wish to do work in the City’s right-of-way. The Development Engineering team strives to ensure the highest quality projects that are developed within the City, including ensuring all public infrastructure and drainage criteria meet and/or exceed minimum standards.
Transportation & Operations
The Transportation & Operations Division is a large and diverse group within Public Works, consisting of Streets and Drainage Maintenance, Fleet Services, Facility Maintenance, and Solid Waste and Recycling. Public Works Operations understands the necessity in having a people first mentality and customer service disposition so that we as a division, and as Pflugerville as a whole, can maintain and live the City’s motto “where quality meets life”.
Public Works Services
The Public Works Services Department consists of three critical administrative groups within the Public Works Department: Administration, Capital Services and Real Estate Management. Our responsibilities encompass a broad array of tasks, including administrative support functions, community engagement initiatives, managing the City's land acquisition process, tracking budgets and funding for capital projects, as well as assisting with the procurement of services and contract management for capital for projects.
