Railroad mapOn Tuesday, June 12, 2018, the City Council approved the construction contract for the Railroad Avenue pavement reconstruction and rehabilitation planned to begin in July, The City’s Capital Improvement Project Team is holding an Open House at City Hall, 100 E. Main Ste 500, on Thursday, June 14 from 4-7 p.m. The project includes pavement reconstruction and rehabilitation between Wilbarger Street and East Pflugerville Parkway. The roadway needs maintenance now to avoid further depreciation as the roadway was ranked in poor to very poor condition in a recent roadway assessment. The construction is anticipated to begin in July to help reduce the impact on the area schools for the Fall 2018 school year.

The construction includes adding an on-street parking lane for homes that face Railroad Avenue while still having a north and southbound dedicated lane for traffic. A middle dedicated turn lane will allow for safer turns. Additional striping will help with school traffic flow.

At Pfennig, the plan includes adding additional turn lanes and restriping the intersection. The city will widen the intersection to create a 3-lane approach with a dedicated left, dedicated straight through lane and a dedicated right lane in both directions. Striping will also be improved east and westbound on Pfennig to help with traffic flow at the Pfennig Lane and Railroad Avenue intersection.
