Post Date:11/01/2018 2:51 PM

The Pflugerville Police Department is asking the community to help with a special operation to ensure that all local children and families can enjoy the spirit of the season.

Starting Nov. 1, Pflugerville PD will be accepting applications from families in need as well as donations from the community for its annual Blue Santa project.

Pflugerville families who need help with the holidays this year may apply to receive gifts for children ages 14 and under and a holiday meal by filling out an application in person from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday - Friday at the Pflugerville Justice Center, 1611 E. Pfennig Lane. The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 10. Applicants should bring a valid Texas Driver's License and utility bill that shows matching address proof of residence in the city limits.

The public is invited to donate new, unwrapped toys and non-perishable food items at Blue Santa donation bins located at City Hall, Pflugerville Parks and Rec Center, the Pflugerville Library, businesses, schools and other organizations across the city, including the Pflugerville Justice Center. Every year, the program is especially in need of gifts for recipients 10 to 14 years of age and infants up to 2 years of age. Bicycles and clothing other than gloves and hats are not needed for this year’s program.

There is a toy registry at the Pflugerville Target to purchase toys online. Visit , click on Registries and type ‘Pflugerville Police’ for the first name and ‘Blue Santa’ for the last name.

Money donations are also accepted by mailing a check or money order to Pflugerville Blue Santa, c/o Pflugerville Police Department, P.O. Box 679, Pflugerville, Texas 78691 or visiting the Pflugerville Justice Center in person. Donation bins will be picked up starting Dec. 11.

Holiday gifts and food baskets will be delivered to pre-registered applicants on Saturday, December 15 to the address on file between 9 a.m. and noon.

Blue Santa is coordinated by the Pflugerville Police Department and wouldn’t be possible without the additional sorting, wrapping and packaging by volunteers who come from Pflugerville community, businesses and volunteer organizations.
