Chaplains Host The First Annual Cover The Cars Police Prayer Event

Post Date:11/28/2018 12:26 PM

Chaplains of the Pflugerville Police Department will hold a Cover the Cars (CTC) Prayer Event on Saturday, December 1, 2018, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., at Abundant Life Church, located at 1006 Old Austin Hutto Road in Pflugerville to allow PPD Chaplains and the community to pray for the safety and protection of Pflugerville officers and their families.

CTC is open to the public and is an opportunity for the community to meet and thank the officers who work to keep them safe. The event will begin with prayer, blessing of the food and opening remarks by City officials. A meal of hamburgers and hotdogs, donated by local churches and businesses for approximately 500 people, will be served after the opening prayer and remarks. In the event of rain, food will be served from inside the host church, Abundant Life, as the Chaplains and attendees continue to pray over the PD vehicles that drive through between 1 and 3 p.m. The Chaplains also plan to serve food and offer prayer over the vehicles for the Pflugerville night-shift officers.

Other Pflugerville-area churches represented at this event include Immanuel Lutheran Church, Tree of Life Church and St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church. The plan is for CTC to be held annually, on the first Saturday in December, to align with the annual Pfestival of Lights and Christmas Parade held December 1 in downtown Pflugerville.
