Celebrate Black History Month

Stop by the library for Black History Month programs in February.

The Pflugerville Public Library celebrates Black History Month with daily messages about featured authors and books on social media, as well as special programs in February. Stop by to check out a book from the Black History Month display, or view the Black History Month 2019 reading list online through the library catalog.

On Saturday, February 16, the library will show The Hate U Give (©20th Century Fox, rated PG-13), the critically acclaimed movie based on the award-winning book by Angie Thomas. Children under age 12 must be accompanied by a parent.

Saturday Storytime on February 16 and February 23 will feature works by African-American authors. Saturday Storytime is held every Saturday at 1 p.m. Children up to age 8 are welcome. 

Storyteller and entertainer Elizabeth Kahura will be at Storytime on Tuesday, February 19 at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Elizabeth will introduce children to Kenya, Africa, where she was born, with puppets and music during this interactive program.

For adults, on Thursday, February 28, 6 - 8 p.m. kYmberly Keeton from the Austin History Center (AHC) will give a special presentation on the AHC's African American Community Archives. This presentation is for ages 18 and up. Please RSVP online or by calling 512-990-6375. Refreshments will be provided.
