This week at City Council, the City recognized our award-winning staff, celebrated William Mullican day in the City and are gearing up for the State of The City. In addition, the Council approved on first reading an adoption of city logo and trademark guidelines to help enforce the city's brand integrity and a new bus purchase and stage for Parks and Recreation. Register next week for Summer Pfun Camp and swim lessons
Start planning your summer with camp and swim lessons. Registration for Summer Pfun Camp and adult and children's swim lessons begins next week online and in-person at the Pflugerville Recreation Center.
Early Summer Pfun Camp registration is available for residents at the Spring Pfling on Saturday. Regular registration begins Monday, April 1 for residents and Monday, April 8 for non-residents. Camp is ten, week-long sessions from June 3 to August 9. Campers enjoy field trips, active games, swimming, arts and crafts, science projects and more outdoor pfun. Swim lesson registration opens on Wednesday, April 3. Group and individual lessons are available throughout the summer for children (6 months to 12 years old) and adults (13 year old and up). For more information, visit Swim Lessons.
Get Caught Reading, call for photosThe Pflugerville Library is accepting photos through May 17 for the Get Caught Reading Photography Show. Send your pictures in Jpeg, Tiff or Png format to Amanda Cawthon at firstname.lastname@example.org. Images will be printed and displayed throughout the library from May 24-June 21. Participants can pick up their printed photos the week of June 22. For more information, call the library at 512-990-6375.
Take a sneak peek at summer programs at the Spring Pfling
Join us at Heritage Park on Saturday, March 30 from noon to 3 p.m. for a sneak peek at all city programs, camps, events, resources and facilities to fill your summer. We have pfun for all ages including performances from Recreation Center dancers and the Library's Ukulele club, a robotics build and sewing demonstrations, free workouts from FIT4MOM and Camp Gladiator, freebies from Pflug Fun, a special "mini Pfarmers Market," Tiny Tails Petting Zoo, Elsie's Egg Rolls, snow cones, inflatables and more. Fun for all ages at Star Wars Reads Day
Come to the library on March 30 from 2-4 p.m. for Star Wars-themed fun. There will be a Star Wars storytime, followed by saber training with Saber Guild-Jakku Temple and crafts. Kids can get Star Wars drawings and children's guest passes to the Greater Austin Comic Con from special guest artist Vo Nguyen. Cosplay is encouraged and all ages are welcome to attend.
Due to the popularity of the interactive Jedi experience, there will be two chances to participate. Please note that seating is limited during the show. Light saber training is recommended for ages 6-12 and is limited to 15-20 participants per session.

Dog Pfriendly Movie Matinee at the Library, March 31
Catch a free movie with your canine bestie at the library on Sunday, March 31, from 2-4 p.m. Watch Alpha (©Columbia Pictures Industries Inc. Rated PG-13), a story about man's first best friend. Set in the prehistoric past, a young man struggles to return home after being separated from his tribe during a buffalo hunt. He finds a similarly lost wolf companion and starts a friendship that would change humanity. Canine and human snacks will be provided while supplies last. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent.
Dungeons & Dragons teen night
Meet other D&D players while you customize a dice tray using a plain wooden box at the library on Tuesday, April 2, 6-7:30 p.m. Library volunteer Kasey Lansangan will also walk new players throughout the process of creating their own characters. Ages 12-18 are welcome. Craft materials will be provided while supplies last. This event is first come, first serve.
Movie Matinee, April 6
Watch Aquaman (©Warner Bros., Rated PG-13) at the library on April 6, 2-4:15 p.m. Teens and adults are welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Clean Up Day is approaching April 6
Clean Up Day is on April 6, 2019 from 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. at The Pfield, 1301 W Pecan St, Pflugerville, TX 78660. It is an opportunity for residents to dispose of items.
What is collected at Clean Up Day:
- Latex water-based paint
- Scrap metal items (barbecue grills, basketball goals)
- Vehicle batteries (also accepted at the Recycle Center)
- Tires- 4 per vehicle (also accepted at the Recycle Center)
- Furniture (also accepted curbside)
- Paper, cardboard, and plastics (also accepted curbside)
- Refrigerators (limit 2 per vehicle) (accepted curbside with Freon removed)
- Trash (also accepted curbside)
- Used motor oil, antifreeze & filters (accepted at the Recycle Center year-round)
- Brush and Tree limbs (also accepted curbside)
Chemicals, compressed gas cylinders, explosives, industrial/commercial waste, medical waste, oil-based paint, and any items labeled "caution" "warning" or "poison" are not accepted at Clean Up Day.
Due to the expense to host this event, Clean Up Day is only available to Pflugerville residents and utility customers. The following subdivisions are not in the city limits: Springhill, Sarah's Creek, Wells Branch, and Brookfield. If you live off Howard Lane, in Round Rock, Hutto or Austin's extra-territorial jurisdiction you will not be able to participate. Each vehicle may be asked to show a photo ID or a city of Pflugerville utility bill.
Don’t wait in line at Clean Up Day for items you could leave curbside year-round on your trash pickup day.
You can leave up to six items curbside in addition to your trash cart including:
- Bulky items – furniture, couches, and mattresses are taken curbside on your trash day. Stoves, dishwashers, washers and dryers, gas grills with the tanks removed are accepted curbside.
- Refrigerators and freezers are taken curbside if you have the Freon removed by a licensed technician and a certification sticker applied to the item. Water softener tanks are accepted with salt removed.
- Up to 6 items (bags of trash, furniture, etc.) can be placed curbside with your trash cart on your trash day.
Register for the Miss Pflugerville Pageant
The Miss Pflugerville Pageant is scheduled for Saturday, June 22, 2019, at the Pflugerville Recreation Center, and the first mandatory parent and child meeting is on Saturday, April 27. Contestant applications are now accepted for the Miss Pflugerville Pageant through Friday, April 12 at 5 p.m. The pageant divides contestants into three age groups: Little Miss Pflugerville – for girls going into third to fifth grade in the 2019-2020 school year; Junior Miss Pflugerville – for girls entering sixth to eighth grade in the 2019-2020 school year; Miss Pflugerville – high school. Winners will proudly represent Pflugerville throughout the year and will volunteer at community events including the Pfarmers Market, Library story times and other community festivals in addition to participating in the 2020 Deutschen Pfest and Deutschen Pfest Parade. The event will be held at the Pflugerville Recreation Center, 400 Immanuel Road, on June 22 from 5 – 7 p.m. The first mandatory parent and child meeting is on Saturday, April 27 from 4-5 p.m. at the Pflugerville Recreation Center. The pageant is open to Pflugerville residents and students within the PfISD. Sign up for Deutschen Pfest 5K before the price increase March 31
Save $5 per person by registering now through Sunday night and beat the price increase for the annual Deutschen Pfest 5K set for Sunday, May 20. Currently $30 per person, the fee will change to $35 on Monday, April 1. Groups of four can also register together and save $3 per person on the registration fee. Children are welcome to run the race, and the fee is $15 per child. Pets and strollers are welcome and are asked to enter at the end of the line on race day. Bohls, Gatlinburg and Cambridge Estates crack sealing - A contractor will be crack sealing streets in the Bohls, Gatlinburg and Cambridge Estates subdivisions on Saturday, March 30, weather permitting. Please drive carefully as this road maintenance occurs.
Pajama Storytime - Young children and their caregivers can enjoy an evening storytime followed by a snack. Children are welcome to wear their pajamas and bring a favorite stuffed toy to cuddle. Pajama Storytime is held on the first and third Tuesday of the month, from 6:30-7 p.m.
Pfarmers Market in April - Enjoy two Pfarmers Markets on April 9 and 23, at The Green Red Barn, 901 Old Austin Hutto Road from 3-7 p.m. The market brings fresh, locally grown and prepared foods to the Pflugerville community. April 7 - Images of Service Reception - Veterans and the community are invited to the Images of Service Reception on April 7 at the Library from 3-4 p.m. The event will highlight the photos of Pflugerville veterans and their families that contributed to the photo archive project in conjunction with the Youth Advisory Council (YAC), Library and American Legion. Mayor Victor Gonzales will lead a program that includes the Pledge of Allegiance, posting of the colors, recognition of the various veterans who served and the YAC will help to highlight the stories and photos received for the historical collection. The City will record interviews with veterans which will be featured on PfTV this summer.
April 9 - Storytime and Egg Hunt at Heritage House - Enjoy a spring-themed storytime followed by an egg hunt around the Heritage House Museum, 901 Old Austin Hutto Rd, on April 9, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Ages 1-5 and their parent or caregiver is welcome to participate. The event will move to the Green Red Barn, also located in Heritage Park if it rains.
April 9 - Greater Pflugerville Job Pfair - The Pflugerville Community Development Corporation, Pflugerville Chamber of Commerce, City of Pflugerville, Pflugerville Independent School District, and Pflugerville Travis County Emergency Services District #2 are organizing a Greater Pflugerville Job Fair for April 9 from 4- 8 p.m. at Typhoon Texas, 18500 TX 130 Service Road, Pflugerville Texas to encourage employment in Pflugerville. The public is encouraged to bring their resumes and come learn about job opportunities in Pflugerville. The City is hiring several full-time positions including utility maintenance employees and police officers, and part-time summer positions.
