July is Smart Irrigation Month; be water smart!

July is Smart Irrigation month. Watering early in the day, before 10 a.m. and after 7 p.m., is a requirement in the city's stage 2 water restrictions and is a part of smart irrigation. Save water by avoiding loss due to heat and wind. Watering at these hours also improves soil absorption of the water. www.smartirrigationmonth.org.

Be sure to check your automatic watering or sprinkler systems for any leaks. If you water overnight, you might never see your sprinkler actually running. Be sure to test each zone and make sure that the heads are aimed where you intended. The city offers sprinkler system checks to water customers. Call 512-990-6400 to schedule a sprinkler system check.

Care Cabinet

Care Cabinet added to the Library courtyard

The Pflugerville Public Library now offers a Care Cabinet in the Library courtyard.  It contains personal grooming items and other toiletries for our neighbors in need. The cabinet was inspired by Youth Librarian Melissa Grzybowski and built by our Friends of the Library group and stocked with donated items. The cabinet is located in an out-of-the way area so people can discreetly take what they need. Everything in the cabinet is available for free. No tax dollars were used in this venture.
