Keep your pfamily safe around pfireworks
Be prepared to enjoy a safe holiday? Travis County ESD#2 (the Pflugerville Fire Department) encourages you and your family to talk with everyone in your household about fireworks safety, every year. Within the City of Pflugerville, all fireworks (including sparklers) are completely ILLEGAL year-round to possess or use. The safest legal way to enjoy fireworks is to attend a professional fireworks show, such as the Pfirecracker Pfestival.
If you are around fireworks, please visit the Fire Department’s website at https://www.pflugervillefire.org/fireworks/ to see ways of improving your family’s safety with personal fireworks in legal areas.
Help your pet if it's pfrightened by pfireworks
If your pet is scared of fireworks, help them get through Independence Day with these tips:
- Turn on a radio, television, or a fan to provide distracting noise.
- Make sure you have photos of your pets in casein case they escape your house or yard. Pets tend to run to hide when frightened.
- Do not take your pet to outdoor fireworks displays or large crowds for the Independence Day. They will feel safer at home in a familiar environment.
- Check Pflugerville Animal Welfare Services (PAWS) shelter on Thursday, July 5. It is open from 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. Use the PAWS Facebook page in the meantime to let us know if your animal does get out. For more information, call 512-990-PETS.
No Personal Pfireworks in the City Limits
While Travis County does not restrict the sale of fireworks for the Independence Day season, fireworks are not permitted in the Pflugerville city limits. It is important to exercise caution to remain safe and firework free. An alternative to personal fireworks is to attend the Pfirecracker Pfestival. Please note that sparklers are also considered fireworks and are illegal.
Recognizing that residents want to celebrate Independence Day, the city has hired professionals to work with the Fire Department for the city-wide Pfirecracker Pfestival. Join us at the Pfield to watch fireworks.
