On Saturday, September 21, the Pflugerville Library, Recreation Center and Justice Center will have giant thank you cards available for residents to sign in honor of National Thank a Police Officer Day. If you would like to express thanks to Pflugerville police officers for everything they do for the community, go to any of the three participating locations to take part in the pfun. Can't make it out? The Pflugerville Police Department Facebook Page and Pflugerville Police Department Twitter can be accessed from anywhere, and residents can comment or tweet their thanks there.
Food and produce vendors wanted for the Pflugerville Pfarmers Market
The Pfarmers Market is looking to expand its food and produce offerings at the weekly market. If you or someone you know sells great local food and produce, then apply to be a vendor today. The Pfarmers Market is a celebration of local offerings, and residents appreciate the opportunity to buy from small businesses and support their community. Park(ing) Day is today at The Best Little Plaza in Texas
The City's annual pop-up park in the Best Little Plaza in Texas next to City Hall in Downtown Pflugerville is open today until 6 p.m. Come out for free coffee, yard games, live music, story time or just enjoy the fresh air. It's a chance to spend a part of your day enjoying the plaza and downtown Pflugerville.
The schedule of activities includes coffee from West Pecan Coffee + Beer and yard games. From 9:30 - 10 a.m. enjoy a children's storytime with the Pflugerville Library. From noon - 2 p.m. is children's music on the Little Plaza stage and the Pflugerville Animal Shelter will visit the plaza. Find out more at pflugervilletx.gov/events.
Environmental Clean Up Day is tomorrow
Environmental Clean Up Day is an annual event hosted by the City of Pflugerville to encourage recycling and allow disposal of specialty items. This year, the event is being held at Park Crest Middle School, 1500 N. Railroad Avenue, from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Participants must be in line by 11:30 a.m. to participate.
New for 2019: Gifts for Blue Santa and travel-sized personal toiletries will be collected at Environmental Clean Up Day to help those in need. We will also be offering document shredding. This year, fencing and construction debris will not be accepted.
Items to bring: appliances, electronics, water-based paint, plastic grocery bags, documents to be shredded (2 legal box limit), furniture to be disposed of, vehicle batteries, tires (4 per vehicle), used oil and scrap metal
Items to leave at home: industrial and commercial waste (including chemicals and compressed gas cylinders), construction materials (including fencing), medical waste, oil-based paint and items with "caution," "warning" or "poison" labels.
Tips to prepare for Clean Up Day: Environmental Clean Up Day is only available to Pflugerville residential utility customers. Must have a photo ID and/or recent utility statement. The following subdivisions are not in the city limits: Springhill, Sarah’s Creek, Wells Branch and Brookfield. If you live off Howard Lane, in Round Rock, Hutto or Austin’s extra-territorial jurisdiction you will not be able to participate. No commercial contractors.
Use your Recycle Center: Remember that several items are accepted year-round at the recycle center. The City Recycle Center is located at 15500 Sun Light Near Way and open Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. It accepts items not recycled curbside to include: brush and tree limbs, leaves, vehicle batteries, transmission fluid, motor oil, anti-freeze, oil filters and tires (up to 4 per year).
City bulk pickup service: Don't wait in line for items you could've just put on the curb all year long. You can put your trash cart plus an additional six bags and/or bulk items at the curb on your trash day. pflugervilletx.gov/trashtalk.

4th Annual Pflugerville Lib Con at the Pflugerville Public Library
Go to the Pflugerville Library on Saturday, September 28 for the 4th Annual Pflugerville Lib Con, where we celebrate comics, anime, gaming and cosplay! All ages are welcome to attend, and the event is free and family-friendly. From 10 a.m. - noon, the Library will have activities for kids 10 and under; and from noon - 6 p.m., with activities geared for ages 11 and up. There will be several exciting panels featuring a talented host of authors, artists, webcomic creators, voice actors and cosplayers. Additionally, everyone ages 11 and up can compete in a Cosplay Contest, and teens ages 11-17 are invited to display a piece of artwork in the Amateur Artists Gallery. City Council to set budget - On Tuesday, September 24, the City Council will finalize and adopt the Fiscal Year 2019-2020 Budget and tax rate. The City's budget year begins October 1.
Pflugerville Poetry Society - Join the Pflugerville Poetry Society for their regular meeting at the Pflugerville Public Library. From 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 21, meet pfellow poets, share your work, and get some constructive pfeedback. The Pflugerville Poetry Society is open to anyone ages 18 and older.
Voter Registration Drive - September 24 is National Voter Registration Day. To celebrate, the Pflugerville Public Library will be hosting a Voter Registration Drive starting at 10 a.m. to get residents registered and ready to go for election season.
Apply to be a cook team at Chili Pfest - Pfall Chili Pfest is still accepting Chili Cook Team applications through October 4. This year's Pfest is Saturday, October 19, 2019 from noon - 5 p.m. on Main Street in Downtown Pflugerville. It features the chili cook-off and tasting, live music, food and vendors, a kid's area and jalapeño and pickle eating contests. September 21 - Movie Matinee: Aladdin at the Pflugerville Public Library - Come to the Pflugerville Public Library for a magical screening of Disney's Aladdin. The screening will be held on Saturday, September 21 from 2-4 p.m., and attendance is free. The movie is rated PG, ©Walt Disney Pictures, and all children must be accompanied by an adult.
September 29 - Dog Friendly Movie Matinee - Bring your pups to the Pflugerville Public Library on September 29 for a movie screening from 2-4 p.m. The Library will be showing the PG-rated movie The Secret Life of Pets 2, ©Universal Pictures. All children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Snacks for both dogs and humans will be provided (while supplies last).
