noun tax calculationThe budget process is well underway for the City. One of the ways the City determines the annual budget is by estimating the amount of revenue the City will receive for the coming year based on the tax rate. On Tuesday, the City Council approved a Resolution specifying that the Fiscal Year 2020 tax rate will not exceed .5045. The current tax rate is .4976 per $100 valuation. If the City Council approves the .5045 rate it reflects a .69 of a cent increase, and assists in funding the 2018 voter-approved roadway projects including Kelly Lane, Colorado Sand Boulevard, East Pflugerville Parkway extension and Old Austin Hutto Road. The City Council will hold a public hearing on the tax rate on September 10 at 7 p.m. and on the tax rate and budget on September 17 at 6 p.m. The final action, adoption of the tax rate and budget, is scheduled for September 24.
