NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON TAX INCREASE

 

The City of Pflugerville will hold two public hearings on a proposal to increase total tax revenues from properties on the tax roll in the preceding tax year by 12.2%. Your individual taxes may increase at a greater or lesser rate, or even decrease, depending on the change in the taxable value of your property in relation to the change in taxable value of all other property and the tax rate that is adopted.

 

The first public hearing will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2019,

7:00 p.m. at 100 E. Main St, Suite 500, Pflugerville, TX.

 

The second public hearing will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2019,

6:00 p.m. at 100 E. Main St, Suite 500, Pflugerville, TX

 

The City of Pflugerville City Council scheduled vote to adopt tax rate:

Tuesday, September 24, 2019, at 7:00 p.m. at 100 E. Main St, Suite 500, Pflugerville, TX

 

The City Council proposed the consideration of this tax increase with the following votes:

Mayor – Victor Gonzales:                                Yes

Mayor pro tem  – Place 3 – Omar Peña:        Yes

Councilmember – Place 1 – Doug Weiss:       Yes

Councilmember – Place 2 – Jeff Marsh:         Yes

Councilmember – Place 4 – Rudy Metayer:   Yes

Councilmember – Place 5 – Mike Heath:      Yes

Councilmember – Place 6 – Jim McDonald    Yes

 

The average taxable value of a residence homestead in City of Pflugerville last year was $ 241,037 (in the taxing unit for the preceding tax year, disregarding residence homestead exemptions available only to disabled persons or persons 65 years of age or older). Based on last year's tax rate of $ 0.4976 per $100 of taxable value, the amount of taxes imposed last year on the average home was $1,199.40.

 

The average taxable value of a residence homestead in City of Pflugerville this year is $254,485. If the governing body adopts the effective tax rate for this year of $ 0.4737 per $100 of taxable value, the amount of taxes imposed this year on the average home would be $ 1,205.50.

 

If the governing body adopts the proposed tax rate of $ 0.5045 (proposed tax rate) per $100 of taxable value, the amount of taxes imposed this year on the average home would be $ 1,283.88.

 

Members of the public are encouraged to attend the hearings and express their views.
