City of Pflugerville employees volunteer with the Pf Serves Program
At their October 8 regular meeting, City Council approved the creation of the Pf Serves Program for City of Pflugerville employees, which allows city employees to volunteer in the Pflugerville community for up to 40 hours per year during the workday.
City Councilmembers voiced support for this program’s positive impacts to morale, engagement and loyalty. “Our employees are extremely dedicated individuals to their jobs,” said Mayor Pro Tem Omar Peña, “I think the gesture that we provide as a city to enable them to go off and serve will pay off in spades to our citizens.”
This program is a reflection of one the city’s priorities, community engagement, and contributes towards improving the quality of life in Pflugerville. City employees will be able to volunteer with a variety of local nonprofits such as Friends of the Pflugerville Animal Shelter, Friends of the Pflugerville Library, or the Pflugerville Independent School District. Employees may volunteer with a pre-approved organization or recommend other organizations and service opportunities for approval. All volunteering will be in Pflugerville or on a PfISD campus and include meaningful face-to-face interactions with the community.
