Recycle used car oil at the Recycle Center
Residents who change their own car's oil must dispose of it properly. The Pflugerville Recycle Center (15500 Sun Light Near Way) accepts used motor oil. As with all recycling taken to the center, residents must also bring a valid ID and utility bill proof of residency. Used car oil can also be taken to local auto repair shops for recycling. Oil should never be allowed to drip down driveways. The oil will travel from the street into City storm drains, which feed directly into Pflugerville creeks and streams.
How to properly dispose of motor oil:
- Drain the oil into a pan that can hold twice the volume of oil as is in the engine.
- Carefully move the oil pan to a location where you can safely pour the oil into a container.
- Take the container to the Pflugerville Recycle Center or a local auto repair shop for proper disposal. Do not leave it on the driveway, toss it on the lawn or pour it down the drain.
The Pflugerville Recycle Center is open Friday, Saturday and Monday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. For more information on the Recycle Center, visit pflugervilletx.gov/recyclecenter, and for more information on the impact that motor oil can have on the local environment, visit pflugervilletx.gov/stormwater.
