Pflugerville cancels City programs & events; encourages social distancing
Update 3/15/20: All programs and events canceled through May 1. See all updates at pflugervilletx.gov/virus.
The City of Pflugerville is canceling City recreational programs and events on a case-by-case basis through April 13, effective immediately. Large activities or programs with frequent close contact at the Pflugerville Recreation Center and Pflugerville Public Library in addition to all senior programs, Pet Pfest, Pfarmers Market, Small Business Resource Pfair, Pfloating Egg Hunt, Clean-up Day, Woofstock and Homeschool Pfair are canceled. The public is encouraged to call or visit pflugervilletx.gov to see the status of specific programs.
“It is out of an abundance of caution that your City has postponed social and recreational events and programs,” Mayor Victor Gonzales said. “Residents can continue to rely on continuity of city services including police, water, wastewater and trash pickup. Citizens are encouraged to call, use online payment features and practice social distancing.”
Distancing helps prevent the spread of COVID-19 via human transmission by limiting the opportunities for people to be in close contact. Because COVID-19 is most commonly spread through the air by coughing or sneezing, close personal contact by touch, or touching an object or surface with the virus on it, minimizing contact with other individuals and frequent handwashing are important steps in reducing the risk of disease transmission.
The Pflugerville Public Library has stopped the circulation of materials, due dates will be extended, patrons are not to return checked out items and reservations will be held until April 20.
At this time, all other City operations will continue as normal. The City will continue to communicate updates at pflugervilletx.gov/virus or on the City of Pflugerville social media pages.
