Declaration of Public Health Emergency
City of Pflugerville Mayor Victor Gonzales issued a Declaration of Public Health Emergency on March 19, 2020 in response to COVID-19. The Declaration takes place immediately and will be in effect up to 7 days with the option for City Council to extend if necessary.
While there are no confirmed cases of the virus in Pflugerville, the Declaration provides the ability for the City to request disaster recovery assistance from the State and Federal Government and authorizes the Mayor, under the Texas Disaster Act of 1975, to use all available resources to assist in the City’s response to the situation.
The Declaration of Public Health Emergency follows President Trump’s declaration of national emergency on March 13 and Governor Greg Abbott’s declared public health disaster on March 13, 2020.
City staff have been working with other state and local officials to stay updated on the latest information regarding the virus. The City will continue to communicate updates at www.pflugervilletx.gov/virus and on the City of Pflugerville social media pages.
