Found A Pet?
If you find an animal and it is presumed to be someone’s pet, Pflugerville Animal Welfare Services recommends the following:
- You can help a stray pet's chances of getting back home by keeping him in the neighborhood he was found in and looking for the owner. Did you know that a majority of pets reclaimed from Pflugerville Animal Shelter were found within 4 blocks of their home? By looking for the owner, you help PAWS save space and resources for sick and injured pets who really need our help.
- Take the found pet to a veterinarian or the shelter during operating hours to have the pet scanned for a microchip.
- Post the pet on Pflugerville Lost and Found Pets Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/groups/PflugervilleLostandFoundPets/,and within your neighborhood sites of Nextdoor where the pet was located, a neighborhood Facebook page if available and through your Homeowner’s Association.
- Make a found poster and hang flyers where the pet was located.
Call Pflugerville Animal Welfare Services and provide a description of the animal and your contact information so if it has been reported missing or an owner calls looking for it, we can assist you in returning it to the owner.
If you cannot keep the pet in your home or the animal is injured, and you found the animal inside the city limits of Pflugerville, you can call Animal Welfare Services during business hours to have the animal picked up, or you can bring the animal to the shelter during business hours.
