In 2014 City Council approved funding for development of a master plan of Lake Pflugerville. After engaging in public open houses and forums with residents, Parks and Recreation Commissioners, and City Council members, and staff, the master plan took shape and was later approved. The master plan includes expansion of existing park facilities, additional utility services, beach expansion and improvement and additional trailheads.
This same year, voters approved the General Obligation bond which included development of Phase 1 of the Lake Pflugerville master plan. Development of a preliminary design report began in 2018. In June 2019, City Council approved an initial plan for Lake Pflugerville Phase 1, which included parking improvements, additional restroom facilities in the beach area and creation of a western trailhead.
At the December 10, 2019 meeting, Pflugerville City Council approved a plan to reprioritize park bond funds by reducing the scope of Lake Pflugerville projects and allocating more funds to address the needs of current parks facilities. The modified Phase 1 scope uses existing bond funds for the most desired improvements of parking and expanded restrooms and maximizes remaining funds to invest in needs of the current parks system. Taking into account the Lake Pflugerville Master Plan and public feedback, the parking lot will be expanded to the south of the current lot.
