During a flood

If a flash flood warning is underway, it's important to gather your family, pets, and belongings together. It does not have to be raining for flood waters to suddenly rise. Stay away from flooding rivers and streams. While it's tempting to take pictures and see the rising water, you may be caught up in flood waters yourself. Stay back from rushing water. Please note that popular flooding areas in Pflugerville include Gilleland Creek at Pfluger Park and Windermere Park. Watch for snakes, spiders, and debris. Stay out of high water.

Don't drive through flooded roadways!

Turn around; don't drown. Don't be the person that has to be rescued because you went around a barricade and into flood waters. It's not worth it!  If you're in your car and heavy rains hit, pull over and if you can get inside to a safe location to wait out the storm, please do.

Evacuation

If you are directed to evacuate due to flash flooding, please make sure you have your prescriptions, wallet, and needs together and important materials.

After a Flood

After a flood it is important to know and understand necessary precautions before reentering a flooded dwelling, before using canned goods or food that has been touched by flood waters or been without proper refrigeration, and how to protect yourself by staying out of flood waters and limiting exposure to debris. Williamson County and Cities Health District addresses several factors to consider after a flood.

Report Damages

If your home was damaged in a recent flood, please contact Development Services at 512-990-6300. A record of citywide damage is collected and recorded after flood events and may be used for the city to receive FEMA assistance and other provided funding.  If you see parkland or city facilities in need of repair, please call 512-990-6100.

The city notifies residents if they live in a flood plain when floodplain maps are released. Consider flood insurance for your home. It is up to individual homeowners to determine your need for home insurance.
