Paid Time Off

City employees earn a minimum of 15 days of vacation a year, a day (8 hours) of sick pay a month, and 3 days (24 hours) of personal holiday a year. In addition, the City is closed for 10 observed holidays. 


Retirement

The City of Pflugerville has made its plan with the Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS) a highly regarded benefit.

It works like this:

  • Payroll deducts 7% of an employee's gross pay before taxes
  • Then, for every $1 employees contribute (through the 7% initial payroll deduction)
  • The city matches with a $2 contribution.

The City of Pflugerville's vesting requirement (years of service for eligibility) to receive this benefit is 5 years of public service. Service retirement eligibility is 5 years at age 60 OR 20 years at any age.

You can get Restricted Prior Service Credits for every month you have worked full-time in a public sector job like another city, the state, a school district, county or the military. If you have worked full-time in one of these and have not completed the TMRS Prior Service Credit form, visit the forms page on Ascentis. Although this doesn't add any money to your TMRS retirement account you will be that much closer to vesting or retiring.

Health Insurance

The City of Pflugerville provides its employees with a comprehensive benefits package to attract and retain a highly skilled workforce. All premiums are per pay period (24x deductions per year).

Flexible Spending Accounts

We provide you with an opportunity to participate in up to two different flexible spending accounts (FSAs) administered through Proficient Benefits Services. FSAs allow you to set aside a portion of your income, before taxes, to pay for qualified health care and/or dependent care expenses. Because that portion of your income is not taxed, you pay less in federal income, Social Security and Medicare taxes.

Voluntary Vision

Aetna  is the carrier for voluntary vision benefits. Network providers can be found on their website. You may either use network or non-network providers; however; for non-network providers, you pay the regular amount charged and the plan will reimburse you according to a schedule of allowances.

Basic Life/AD&D and Long Term Disability Benefit

The City of Pflugerville provides Basic Life, Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D), and Long Term Disability (LTD) Insurance.

Life Insurance pays benefits in the event of your death from most causes. AD&D benefits are paid if your death is accidental or you are severely injured due to an accident and suffer a loss specified in the policy, such as loss of limb or eyesight. You may also purchase Supplemental Life Insurance for yourself and/or your dependents.

An additional benefit provided for full-time employees is Long Term Disability (LTD). This offers a source of income if you experience a long-term illness or injury that prevents you from working.

Optional Benefits

The City of Pflugerville offers a variety of optional benefits, such as short-term disability, accident policy, and critical illness-with cancer rider. Employees can also elect additional life insurance for themselves and dependents. 


Employee Assistance Program

The City of Pflugerville provides an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) through Alliance Work Partners for all full-time and regular part-time employees and immediate family members. This program allows employees to seek counseling for issues such as marital/family problems, stress, financial difficulties, emotional/mental problems, alcohol/drug abuse, work related difficulties, grief, and loss. Six (6) sessions are provided at no cost to the employee and may be either telephonic or face-to-face.

The city's EAP is designed to confidentially help you deal with life's stresses and the personal problems that develop. For more information on confidential services offered at no cost, contact human resources.
