Community Education and Volunteer Training
Citizen volunteers are extremely important to the Police Department. The Citizens on Patrol volunteers work on a rotating basis to patrol neighborhoods, assist at the Animal Shelter, help with special events, direct traffic, manage crowd control in emergencies and assist with administrative duties, just to name a few! To become a COP(Citizen On Patrol), residents can attend the Citizens Police Academy; a 13-week training program designed to inform citizens of the workings and duties of the department and citizen on patrol volunteers. At the end of the training, class members who graduate are available to serve the community. If you are interested in partnering with the Police Department in this capacity, call or email the Office of Community Liaison.

Home surveys | Vacation Watch/Close Patrol
Did you know?
The Pflugerville Police Department offers a vacation watch/close patrol of your residence. A resident can request a security check be made of their property during a vacation or trip. If any unknown person is found on your property, they may be detained and interviewed by a police officer.
While close patrol is not a contract to guard your property, it is a request that the Pflugerville Police Department physically come by and randomly check your property while you are away.
Fill out a Close Patrol form to have your contact information on file so that in the event something does happen on your property, the Police Department can contact you quickly and efficiently. To sign up, call police communications at 512-990-6700, and choose option “0.” Close Patrol Application
Youth Education and Services
Bicycle Rodeo & Registration | Child ID | Cool Moves
Youth interaction is important to our officers. Not only has the City and Pflugerville ISD cooperatively formed an ISD police department, but the city continues to provide ongoing programs for the youth:
- Annual Bike Rodeo which addresses bicycle safety and skills
- Ongoing fingerprinting services through Child ID at the Police Department
The Police also operate a summer safety campaign called "Cool Moves" which encourages youth to be safe! Children "caught" practicing safety (looking both ways before crossing the street, walking a bike in a crosswalk etc...) receive a free ticket for an ice cream.
